AboutPastor Kimberly Lemler Expertise As an Ordained Minister, Life Coach, and Pastoral Counselor, I can help you with questions related to adultery. I was a victim of adultery in my first marriage so I understand deeply the feelings that one has in this situation. How we choose to respond to the situation is vital in our recovery. Letting go of bitterness and unforgiveness is key, and I can teach you how to do that. I have been happily remarried for 16 years.

Question I need some real counsel on this issue. I committed adultery recently with an old girlfriend of mine who is married. She and I have both been fearing judgement and hell, getting panic attacks and the like since it happened. We have stopped seeing eachother and are no longer going to be involved in that manner.
Where I get concerned is this: I was a believer and so was she before this happened. We're both afraid that having been Christians and then committing adultery has thrown the cross is Christ's face and put us in danger of hell.
I'm so afraid sometimes and so is she. I know all those verses about adulterers not entering the kingdom of heaven, and fear neither I nor she will never feel safe in God again. Worse, she is afraid she will be punished by something happening to her children. I don't know what to do. I just regularly pray that if some sort of bad thing has to happen that it happen to me, but I can't tell what God thinks about us, and if there is any hope. I've read some of your answers that have dealt with this, but I have no idea since we were Christians before.
Please, if you have any specific verses to address this, one way or the other, good or bad, i just need answers...
i don't know how to live this life knowing i've destroyed so much and my brother committed suicide in the past 2-3 months...
i'm just wishing i could pay any sort of price that would be needed, but am so flawed, feel like i can't even do that...
please help.
Answer Hi Charlie,
Right now I am doing a series on my radio program about bitterness and unforgiveness. I want you to get the CD when the series is over. There will be a lot of information on there that will be helpful to you...
Daily we battle satan and his cohorts. Their main mission is to make us fall. We have a choice in whether or not we succumb to temptation. All of us are fair game since we live in a fallen world, with satan as the God of this world, as the Bible says. The guilt and panic attacks are the consequences of sin. The Word says that the "wages of sin is death." This can come in many different forms. When David sinned with Bathsheba, they lost their baby and all kinds of bad things happened to David. Eventually, however, David got right with the Lord again and was blessed....
When we sin, what happens is we open the door to satan and his demon forces. We step out from under the protection of God's hand and it's like we are going out on the front line as a foot shoulder and the enemy has the scope and hair trigger ready. We have a bullseye on our jacket...
When we sin we are fair game to satan. Our children are fair game. Our finances, our homes...everything that concerns us is jeopardized. It may not happen today, but later on the attacks can come. God teaches us in His Word all about sin and that we are to avoid it at all costs. We are to "not give the devil a foothold". It's a choice that's totally up to us...
Now, having said all of that, there is GOOD NEWS. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We have all been tempted. We have all fallen in one way or another. God understands that we live in a fallen world thanks to Adam and God sent us Jesus Christ to redeem us. He sent us one who would take the punishment for our sins. Christ went to that cross FOR YOU and suffered horrors beyond horrors in his mind and body so that YOU would not be punished by God.
The Apostle Paul was forgiven by God for his murdering of Christians. Paul said in the Word that he even falls short, doing things he knows he shouldn't and not doing things he knows he should. As Christians we need to understand that we are not going to be perfect and we are going to sin. The important thing to realize is that we can go to God, REPENT, and ASK FORGIVENESS and the Bible says that He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Once we do that, it's done. Our sin is forgotten as far as the east is from the west. It's no longer an issue...
It becomes an issue if we CHOOSE to hold on to the sin and condemnation, which satan brings after the fact. People can beat themselves up even though they have repented. If God says you are forgiven, then you MUST believe this, ACT like this is so, and get on with your life, rejoicing for the grace that God has bestowed. If you don't believe that, then you call God a liar, and He says you have "an evil heart of unbelief", and this now becomes the new sin....
So trust God!! If you are a Christian believe what the Word teaches! Get out your Bible and start reading and meditating on God's love and forgiveness for you.
When satan comes to put condemnation on you, your job is to REBUKE him. I am trying to get this across in my radio message to people....this is a war and you have to discern the attacks and be ready to answer them with the Word! Churches just do not teach the Bible and I get so frustrated with this. So many people are floundering in their lives because they are battling a vile enemy, yet the church is too scared to teach them about spiritual warfare!!
The bible talks about continuing willingly in your sin....then there is a danger to your salvation. That's why we are to examine ourselves DAILY and ask God is there is anything wayward within us. Then we to repent, ask forgiveness, accept His love and forgiveness, and THEN MOVE ON!
You said to me, "I'm just wishing i could pay any sort of price that would be needed, but am so flawed, feel like i can't even do that..."
Exactly...you are flawed. So am I. JESUS ALREADY PAID THE PRICE FOR YOU!!!!!!!! You don't have to pay!! You just need to receive His grace and mercy and forgiveness!!! And then you need to stand against satan when he tries to come back and put guilt on you...
I want you to get these books because you need to get a whole new level of understanding about what the Word teaches:
Blessing or Curse by Derek Prince
Dressed to Kill by Rick Renner
Spiritual Weapons to Defeat the Enemy by Rick Renner
Shadow Boxing by Henry Malone
You are joint to be okay, Charlie. You just need to fall on your knees before the Lord and let it all out. He has really big loving arms and will take you back and give you blessings beyond blessings...
In His Service,
Pastor Kim
