Question
Hi Sherman!

I came across this problem when I was looking through this book.  How do you find the sqrt of a+bi(My parents and friends do not understand it either)?  Thanks for your time!

Answer
This site should help explain everything

http://staff.jccc.net/swilson/complex/sqrootsimag.htm

basically

a + bi = (a + bi)^2 = a^2 + 2abi + b^2i^2 or a^2 - b^2 + 2abi

(a^2 - b^2) + (2abi)

a^2 - b^2 = A
2ab = B

In my case, A = whole number, B = coefficient of imaginary number.
