Question
x=log(3) 27   How do I figure this out?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Maria~
The base is 3. You might want to review the definition of a log but basically this translates into: 3 to what power gives back 27? So algebraically this is 3^x = 27. If you don't see what the answer is you should write the 27 as a power of 3 and 27 = 3^3 so what you really have is 3^x=3^3 and since your bases match you get x = 3. If you need further explanation do not hesitate to ask a follow up question.
