QuestionA carinval roulette wheen contains 30 slots numbered 00,0,1,2,3,...28. 14 of teh slots numbered 1 through 28 are colored red, and 14 are colored black. The 00 and 0 slots are uncolored. The wheel is spun, and a ball is rolled around the rim until it falls into a slot. Determine the following probabilities:
a. What is the probability that the ball falls into a black or red slot?
b. what is the porbability that the ball falls into an odd numbered slot?
c. what is the probability that the ball falls into a red or an uncolored slot?
d. what is the probability that the fall falls into the slot numbered 5 or an uncolored slot?
thank you!! I HATTTTEEEEE stats!
Answera.)
30 - 2(for the 0 and 00) = 28, so now you have 14/30 or 7/15
there's about a 23.33% chance of it being red or black.
if you've placed a bet on both, then (7/15) + (7/15) = 14/15 or 93.33%
-------------------
b.)
you have 28 numbers
14 of them are even and 14 of them are odd, so same result as "a"
there's about a 23.33% chance of it being odd
--------------------
c.)
(7/15) + (2/30) = (7/15) + (1/15) = (8/15) or 53.33%
---------------------
d.)
(1/30) + (2/30) = (3/30) = 1/10 = .1 or 10% chance.
i'm not 100% if i got them all correct because i'm not to good at probability and you had "or" questions.
check with answers.yahoo.com, if they put what i put, then you can rate me.
by the way, i'm not certain if a carnival roulette wheel has 30 slots, since a casino roulette table has like 38 slots, but if its written in the book that way, then ok.
