Question
a ranger's tower is located 44m from a tall tree. from the top of the tower, the angle of elevation to the top of the tree is 28degrees, and the angle of depression to the base of the tree is 36degrees. How tall is the tree?

Answer
if you draw this out, you will know that

the building is about (44/tan(36))m tall or about 61m tall

the tree is that plus 44tan(28)m tall, or about 23m tall

which adds up to be about 84m tall.

if i've done everything correctly, the tree is about 84m tall.

you have to figure out where the angles go, not just angle of elevation and depression.
