Hi, Bill,

My instructions to questioners include:

(5) Tell me what you already did, and what you are studying -- don't just say Math -- I know that already. What section of the text is this from?

Since you didn't tell me what you already tried to do, I must conclude that you only need to get started.

Here's how to get started:

Write:
Let  J = the cost of one case of juice.

[Don't write 'x' if you can use a better symbol.
and don't be lazy -- don't write Let J = juice.]

Let W = the cost of one case of water.

Then (and I mean write those words 'Let' and 'Then'.

2J = the cost of 2 cases of juice,

etc.

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
