Hi, Sierra,

This is a lot of examples.  Are you just stuck on this topic, or did you try some things and just have trouble when you got someplace?

Question:  Simplify completely:

1. sqrt25x^y =

This one is meaningless.  Proofread, please.
I think you meant:

1. sqrt25x^2y =

And parenthesize the argument to square root, like this:

sqrt(25x^2y) = sqrt(25x^2)sqrt(y) =
5x sqrt(y)

Find the principle root:

That's princiPAL.  Did you look up the meaning of the word?

2. sqrt100 = 10
3. sqrt36 = 6
4. -sqrt9 =  -9
5. sqrt27 = 3 sqrt(3)

Simplify completely:

6. sqrt(x^4) = x^2

Find principal root:

7. -sqrt25
8. sqrt16
9. sqrt49

I THINK YOU CAN HANDLE THOSE NOW.

Simplify completely:

10. sqrt(8) =  sqrt(4) sqrt(2) = 2 sqrt(2)

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
