Question
Hi,

I bought an inexpensive dechlorinator for my aquariums.  All it says on
the back is:

1.207 grams per 10 gallons

Okay I don't have a gram scale

I usually measure in tsp.

I found 10 tsp are equal to .1 pound

How many tsp do I add to the 10 gallon tank to dechlorinate it?

Answer
Hi Karen,

Okay, let's see if I've got this.

 If 10 tsp = 0.1 lb, and there are 454 g = 1 lb.,

 then 45.4 g = 0.1 lb = 10 tsp

 then 4.54 g = 1 tsp

So you can set up a proportion:

            4.54g / 1 tsp = 1.207g / x tsp

and get 4.54x = 1.207  so x = 1.207/4.54 = .265 tsp

so it looks like a quarter-teaspoon would do the trick.  This sounds right, because 1.207g is a pretty small amount.
