Question
I have two questions

What is the gradient and intercept of the straight line with the equation 4y= 2x -3?

4.2 x 92
________
3.2 x 0.49 I am sure this one is very simple but want to check.

Answer
Hi Carol,

For the first one, solve the equation for y:

       4y = 2x - 3

        y = 2/4 x - 3/4  = 1/2 x - 3/4  so the slope (or gradient)
        is 1/2.

For the second one, you can just multiply top, then bottom , then divide:

     (4.2)(92) / (3.2)(0.49)

   =  386.4 / 1.568 = 246.43

Hope this helps.
