Question Find the acute angle of cos A = 0.55570 and tan A= 0.13476 to the nearest second?
Answer Find the arccos and arctan with your calculator or use a spreadsheet. Be sure you get the answer in degrees. If it is in radians, you need to multiply by 180/pi to get degrees.
To find them to the nearest second, take the integer portion as the integer angle. Multiply the fraction by sixty and this will give you minutes (in the integer portion). Take the fraction here and multiply by 60 to get seconds (the rounded result).
Example: 45.56746 = 45 degrees, 38 minutes, 3 seconds.
0.56746*60 = 38.048, so that gives 38 minutes.
It leaves 0.476, which we multiply by 60 and get 2.856, which rounds to 3 seconds.
Hope this helps and you are doing well in mathematics.
