Question A designer, attempting to arrange the characters of his artwork in the form of a square grid with equal number of rows and columns, found that 24 characters were left out. When he tried to add one more row and column, he found that he was short of 25 characters. Can you find the number of characters used by the designer?
Answer Thanks for using AllExperts to find an answer.
It is know that the difference between x^2 and (x+1)^2 is 2x+1.
It is also known that the difference is 24+25.
Use these two to find x.
I hope this does it, but I'm always free to explain further. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
