QUESTION: ya that was helpful.
Ive got one question more, if you kindly shed some light on that too.

How can I know if a parabolic curve is function or not?

Answer
if it doesn't pass the vertical line test, which means if you were to draw a vertical line through the graph and that line were to hit the graph more than once, then its not a function.

in otherwords, if you have 2 "x" values that are the same but 2 different "y" values, then it isn't a function.

i put them in quotes so you would know the difference between letters and variables.
