Question
Write the ratio of the number of vowels to consonants in the word "oxymoron" Consider y to be a vowel..

I need help on this I don't get the question...
Thanks 4 ur help :)

Answer
Hi Rochele,

Basically, there are 4 vowels counting y and 4 consonants.

SO the ratio of vowels to consonants is 4:4 since this the definition of a ratio.

However, ratio's are like fractions, so you take 4:4 and turn it to a fraction getting 4/4. cancelling 4 in the top and bottem, we get 1/1. So the ratio is 1:1.

I hope this answered your question

Experience

I have studied advanced math my entire life. I started calculus in sixth grade. I have attended numerous math competitions and I am attending math organizations such as the San-Diego math circle. Also, this year I have been invited to the USAMO which is a prestigious math competition (Every year the USAMO invites 500 students from across the USA to participate in this competition. The top 6 go to represent the USA in the International Math Olympiad).
