Question
Hi, Steve.  I need to "shock clorinate" my water system. How do I figure out how many gallons of water is held in a square-shaped holding tank.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Cindy,

Well, there are roughly 7.5 gallons per cubic foot, so lets say your
tank was 2ft by 5ft by 4 ft high.  Then its volume is

          V = 2 * 5 * 4 = 40 cubic feet.

Then 40 * 7.5 = 300 gallons.

So, just calculate the volume (be sure its in cubic feet) and then multiply by 7.5 for the total gallons
