Question
I am in high school and I take an advanced math 1 class. I wanted to know if you could help me answer this question. The question is: "Find a formula for the function A. Use your formula to find the area if squares with the following side lengths: 7, 1/2, 4.2, square root of 3, and 200." And then on the side if the page there is a square with an s on the bottom of it. I hope you can help me. If you cant thanks for trying.

Answer
Hi Kai,

It sound to me like they just want you to use the area formula for the square, Area = side^2 or A = s^2.  That's why they gave you the diagram on the side of the page.

Just put the numbers you are given in for s in each case:

 7 :  A = 7^2 = 49

 1/2: A = (1/2)^2 = 1/4

 4.2: A = 4.2^2 = 17.64

 sqrt(3):  A = sqrt(3)^2 = 3

 200 :  A = 200^2 = 400,000

I'm pretty sure that's all you're expected to do.
