This is a homework question and I would appreciate any feedback as to whether I completed the problem correctly.

3. (4 points) Melissa wants to have concrete driveway in front of her house. The driveway will measure 62 1/3 feet long and 19 feet wide; and will be 2/3 foot thick. How many cubic yards of cement will be needed for the driveway? Round your answer to the nearest cubic yard. [1 cubic yd = 27 cubic feet]


The volume of cement is:

v = 62 1/3 x 19 x 2/3 = 187/3 x 19 x 2/3 = 1706/9 ft³

Since each cubic yard is equivalent to 27 cubic feet, one can write the following:

1 = 1 yd³/27ft³

And one would get:

v = 1706 ft³/9 = 1706 ft ³ x 1 = 1706 ft³/9 x 1 yd³/ 27 ft³ = 1706/243 yd³

v = 1706/243 yd³ = 7 5/243 yd³

v = 7 yd³

    The problem is done exactly right, I see no errors. I do have an observation though. You have marked this private. Unless you can give me a compelling reason why you need it to be private I have to insist you don't because then other students can view the response and get help for their homework and studies. I hope you are ok with this.
