Question
how do you do this proof:
(1/cotx+1)+(1/tanx+1)=1

Answer
if by this you mean

(1/(cot(x) + 1)) + (1/(tan(x) + 1)) = 1

(1/((cos(x)/sin(x)) + 1)) + (1/((sin(x)/cos(x)) + 1)

(1/((cos(x) + sin(x))/sin(x)) + (1/((sin(x) + cos(x))/cos(x))

(sin(x)/(cos(x) + sin(x))) + (cos(x)/(sin(x) + cos(x)))

as you can see they both have the same denominator

(sin(x) + cos(x))/(sin(x) + cos(x))

and as you know, that equals 1.
