Question
how do I solve this question?

Factorize:   51y^2 - 2580y - 39879

Please help if possible, thank you.

Answer
i'm going to show you the easiest way to be able to factor anything that deals with parabolas.

Quadratic Formula

y = (-b ± sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a)

but first reduce your problem into

3(17y^2 - 860y - 13293)

y = (-(-860) ± sqrt((-860)^2 - 4(17)(-13293)))/(2(17))

y = (860 ± sqrt(1643524))/34

y = (860 ± 1282)/34

y = 2142/34 or -422/34

y = 63 or (-211/17)

in factored form, your answer would be

3(17y + 211)(y - 63)
