Question
Im not sure if i have this math problem right and there are one or two i don't understand how to do so if you please check them out for me
1. Find the center and the radius of a circle, given the following equation of the circle
                      X^2 +y^2=100
The answers
A circle of radius r about center (h,k) is (x-h)^2 t (y-k)^2=r^2 this one is center about the origin (0,0) with a radius of 10 (squart (100) )
(0,0):10

2. Find the distance between the pair of points  (-2,6) and (7, -3)
Answer

3. Given f(x)=8x-2 and g (x) = 2x - 3 find f-g
Not sure how to do this one help please

4. Write the standard form of the equation of the circle with the given center (-2, -4) and radius 6
Answer (x+2)^2 + (y+4)^2=36

5. Given f(x) =2-2x and g(x)=-6x+2 find f and g
Answer I have two answer for this one not sure what one is wright
Ftg=2-2+6x+2x=2+6x  or  = (2-2) + (6x + 2+) = 2-2x-6x+2=-8x+4

6. Given f(x)=5x+4 and g(x)=3x-8
Answer 15x^2-28x-32

7. Find the midpoint of the line segment with the given  end point  (2,1) and (6,8)
Answer 4 9/2

8. Given f(x)=5x+7 and g(x)=5x-1 find (fog) (x)
Answer 25x+2

9. Given f(x)= -3x+2  and g (x) =2x+9: find (gof) (x)
Answer -6x+13

10. Find the distance between the pair of points (-1, 4) and (-5, 7)
Answer 5

Hi, Laurie,

Sorry, but this is not a check-your-homework-for-you site.  That is your teacher's job.

I'll do what I can, but no guarantees and no complete solutions.
........................................
1. Find the center and the radius of a circle, given the following equation of the circle
                     X^2 +y^2=100
The answers
A circle of radius r about center (h,k) is (x-h)^2 t (y-k)^2=r^2 this one is center about the origin (0,0) with a radius of 10 (sqrt (100) )
(0,0):10
>> OK.

2. Find the distance between the pair of points  (-2,6) and (7, -3)
Answer:

>> Use the distance formula.

3. Given f(x)=8x-2 and g (x) = 2x - 3 find f-g
Not sure how to do this one help please

>>> f-g just means subtract. (don't forget the parentheses.)

4. Write the standard form of the equation of the circle with the given center (-2, -4) and radius 6
Answer (x+2)^2 + (y+4)^2=36

>> OK.

5. Given f(x) =2-2x and g(x)=-6x+2 find f and g
Answer I have two answer for this one not sure what one is wright
Ftg=2-2+6x+2x=2+6x  or  = (2-2) + (6x + 2+) = 2-2x-6x+2=-8x+4

>> Not clear what you are suppose to do.

6. Given f(x)=5x+4 and g(x)=3x-8
Answer 15x^2-28x-32

>> ?????

7. Find the midpoint of the line segment with the given  end point  (2,1) and (6,8)
Answer 4 9/2
>>  (4, 9/2)

8. Given f(x)=5x+7 and g(x)=5x-1 find (fog) (x)
Answer 25x+2

>> OK, but use the notation:   f(g(x)).  Then you will know what to do:

9. Given f(x)= -3x+2  and g (x) =2x+9: find (gof) (x)
Answer -6x+13

>> OK.

10. Find the distance between the pair of points (-1, 4) and (-5, 7)
Answer 5

>> OK.

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
