Question
John needs 110ml of a 64% solution.  If he only has a 44% solution and an 88% solution, how many ml of each does he need?

Answer
.44x + .88y = .64(110)
x + y = 110

.44(x + 2y) = 70.4
x + 2y = 160
x = -2y + 160

-2y + y + 160 = 110
-y = -50
y = 50

x = -2(50) + 160
x = -100 + 160
x = 60

ANS :
60 ml of the 44% solution
50 ml of the 88% solution
