Question
How do I find the x-intercepts for the following equation: g(x)=x^1/3 (x+3)^2/3?  I need them in order to continue on with finding the crits, etc.

Hi Anna,

Well, you have the equation

x^(1/3)(x + 3)^(2/3) = 0

So either x^(1/3) = 0    OR   (x + 2)^(2/3) = 0

So x = 0 or -2.

Basically, this equation is already factored for you, so the exponents do NOT matter.

I am entering high school and have received a perfect score and the STAR test 5 times in a row. I also have gotten recognitions in the AMC 10, AIME, Math Counts, and ARML. Additionally, I have won the San Diego Math Olimpiad twice in a row.
