round this to the nearest thousandth:3.14159
3 would be the whole number
3.1 would be the tenths place
3.14 would be the 100ths place
3.1415 would be the 1000ths place
3.14159 would be the 10000ths place
so the answer is 3.1416 because there is a 9 after the 5, and any number from 5-9 makes the number in front of it go up one.
