Question
How do I create a function using the following characteristics: horizontal asymptote=2, vertical asymptote=-1 and x-intercept=7

Answer
f(x) = (2x - 14)/(x + 1)

vertical asymptote is easy to make, since if the denominator makes the problem undefined at x = -1, and the x-intercept is easy to find if the numerator is equal to 0.

for the horizontal asymptote, go to http://math.whatcom.ctc.edu/downloads/Rational%20Graphs.pdf

if you go to http://www.calculator.com/calcs/GCalc.html and type in the problem i wrote, but only type in the stuff on the right side, if you graph it, zoom out, and you will find that my problem works.
