Question
i hate my math teacher because she gave us homework over something she
didn't teach yet and i need help on it so heres the question:

how many ounces of a 20% acid should be mixed with a 45% acid solution to
produce 100 ounces of a 40% acid solution?
can u help me please and thank you :))

Answer
.20x + .45y = 100(.40)
x + y = 100

.20x + .45y = 40

20x + 45y = 4000
x + y = 100

20x + 45y = 4000
-20x - 20y = -2000

25y = 2000
y = 80

x = 20

20 ounces of the 20% acid solution
80 ounces of the 45% acid solution

will result in 100 ounces of 40% acid solution.
