Question
our teacher is out on some seminar in which he is the speaker. he left us this project and i somehow forgot the ways to answer this.

i actually have two  problems..
please help me out

1.)willie cabaysa invested 10200.00 at 8 1/2%. how much additional money must he invest at 7% so that his total annual income from these investments may equal 8% of the total principal?

i tried answering that, but no process comes to9 my head. i guess i didnt really quite understood the problem.

the next one is

2.)two cars start from the same place and travel in opposite directions. one runs at an average rate which is 24 kph faster than the other. Find their rates if after 6 hours, they are 702 km apart.

thanks a lot

Answer
1.) Check with answers.yahoo.com on this one, because i get .07x = -51 so something isn't right or i'm not understanding how to work it out. Sorry i was never really too good at certain word problems.

-------------------------------------

2.)
S = d/t
D = ST

6(x + 24) + 6x = 702
6x + 144 + 6x = 702
12x = 558
x = 46.5

There rates are 46.5kph and 70.5kph

when they are going away from each other, just add them together.
