Question
What I am interested in is mental arithmetic.I really admire those people who can do sums in his head. So, can you do the same thing? Will you tell me which way will lead me to a advanced player?

Answer
This sounds interesting and tends to bring a lot back to my head, so buckle down and lets go.
Yes, I do math in my head for I know it by God's grace.  I even do sums on words.  For example, YES is really sq(7).  This is because Y is the 25th letter in the alphabet, E is the 5th letter, and S is the 19th.  E+S is the same as 5+19=24, and 24+Y=24+25=49.
Now I also know that sq(49)=2,401 and cb(4)) just a sec ... yeah, I was right, is 117,649.
Oh yeah - its the fourth root of 5,764,801 since 1^2 = 1, 2*1*2,400 = 4,800, and 2,400^2 = 5,760,000.

I believe the best way I've found to get better is by memorizing scripture.  When I first started, I had trouble with one line at a time.  After doing this for awhile, I could do a verse at a time.  Now I am up to paragraphs at a time.  Of course, it probably helped me in school when I memorized Matthew 5, 6, and 7 (the sermon on the mount), Romans 6 (don't sin), and Psalm 23 (the Lord is my Shepherd).  When I was done with college, I needed to trust God to really be there and ended up in a car accident.  I was in a coma for three and a half weeks.  My brain was shifted way out of place by a few degrees and a few centimeters, but was brought back by when my Pastor lay his hands on my head and prayed for me.  This really amazed the nurses.  I woke up when the Sunday they prayed in church on the following Sunday.  Now that's amazing in that people were only let into my room for 5 minutes out of every 2 hours, and they were in my room when I woke up.  Coincidence?  There is no such thing - it was God, just doing his daily business.

After I awoke, they use to bring the interns around to my room.  They told them, 'Remember everything you learned in college about head injuries?  This is an exception to the rule.'  You see, when I was first brought in, I was in surgery for over half a day.  After that they gave me a 2% chance of just living, with no chance of walking.  I woke up, have walked, run, rode my bike, hiked up a mountain, and had fun ever since.  I worked at Boeing for five years, but was caught in the downsizing.  I worked at Safeway for over five years, but had to quit when my feet hurt so bad due to fasciitis.  That is where your souls break down and give you pain when you remain in one position for more than a second or less.

Half my brain is dead, they say, but that’s alright and that’s OK.
The average man needs 10%, so just on that, I forward went.

Did you know that Y is E*E?  Well, Y is the 25th letter in the 26 letter alphabet and E is the 5th.  Now last I knew, 52 was 25.  To that I can say, YES I did.

What I have found to do is to pray, rejoice, give thanks to God, know how awesome God is, always give him praise, and let God do it all.   In all things, give thanks to God.
Whatever it is you want to know, do it and do it and do it some more.  Do it while there’s nothing else to think about.  Do it as you’re going to sleep.   See, when I do anything, I don’t think that it is improving me.  But as I live the thing God gives me is his grace which on my face does put a smile for quite awhile.  See, God is good, and so we should give God great praise on all our days.  That’s praise him now and praise him then and they you’ll see, he is a ten.  I don’t know where I these words come from, but its for Jesus I do hum.

As I told someone else, whenever I get to writing like this, the side of my brain (that is suppose to have my math) is dead and I shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.  But what it is I’ve got to say is it’s to Jesus I do pray with knowledge He will guide me on as it is to Him I am drawn.

So the way to really be successful is to always give thanks, study hard, have a place to put down your thoughts, smile at everything, know Jesus loves you, and praise God.  Don't be afraid of anything, but gid thanks and go for it.  God shows how to do the rest.

Expertise

I can answer any question in general math, arithetic, discret math, algebra, box problems, geometry, filling a tank with water, trigonometry, pre-calculus, linear algebra, complex mathematics, probability, statistics, and most of anything else that relates to math. I can even tell you it takes me over 2,000 steps to go a mile, but is that relevant?

Experience

Experience in the area; I have tutored people in the above areas of mathematics for almost two years in AllExperts.com. I have tutored people here and there in mathematics since before I received a BS degree almost 25 years ago. In just two more years, I received an MS degree as well, but more on that later. I tutored at OSU in the math center for all six years I was there. Most students offering assistance were juniors, seniors, or graduate students. I was allowed to tutor as a freshman. I tutored at Mathnasium for well over a year. I worked at The Boeing Company for over 5 years. I received an MS degreee in Mathematics from Oregon State Univeristy. The classes I took were over 100 hours of upper division credits in mathematical courses such as calculus, statistics, probabilty, linear algrebra, powers, linear regression, matrices, and more. I graduated with honors in both my BS and MS degrees. Past/Present Clients: College Students at Oregon State University, various math people since college, over 7,500 people on the PC from the US and rest the world.

Publications
My master's paper was published in the OSU journal. The subject of it was Numerical Analysis used in shock waves and rarefaction fans. It dealt with discontinuities that arose over time. They were solved using the Leap Frog method. That method was used and improvements of it were shown. The improvements were by Enquist-Osher, Godunov, and Lax-Wendroff.

Education/Credentials
Master of Science at OSU with high honors in mathematics. Bachelor of Science at OSU with high honors in mathematical sciences. This degree involved mathematics, statistics, and computer science. I also took sophmore level physics and chemistry while I was attending college. On the side I took raquetball, but that's still not relevant.

Awards and Honors
I earned high honors in both my BS degree and MS degree from Oregon State. I was in near the top in most of my classes. In several classes in mathematics, I was first. In a class of over 100 students, I was always one of the first ones to complete the test. I graduated with well over 50 credits in upper division mathematics.

Past/Present Clients
My clients have been students at OSU, people nearby, friends with math questions, and several people every day on the PC, and you're probably make one more.
