Question
complete the algebra to simplify [f(x+Δx)-f(x)]/Δx to 4x+2Δx-3 for the function f(x)=2x^2-3x

Answer
Hi Sion~
Let's call Δx = z so we want to show [f(x+z)-f(x)]/z is 4x+2zx-3
With f(x) = 2x^2-3x we have
[f(x+z)-f(x)]/z = [2(x+z)^2-3(x+z)-(2x^2-3x)]/z = [2(x^2+2zx+z^2)-3x-3z-2x^2+3x]/z
= [2x^2+4zx+2z^2-3x-3z-2x^2+3x]/z = [4zx+2z^2-3z]/z = z(4x+2z-3)/z = (4x+2z-3)= 4x+2Δx-3
