Question
Is there a method using math to analyze the best time to replace a vehicle?

Answer
Hi Carol~
Yes and no. It depends on the vehicle and it's data of performance and reliability. In general 'they' say most vehicles today are reliable at least until 100,000 miles (unless it is a lemon) and as far as resale value, the lower the mileage the more you will get when you resell. Most cars are still in basically good shape at 100,000 as long as they have been serviced regularly. It seems that somewhere near 100,000 miles they will begin to nickel and dime you to death. I'd say 75,000 is probably a good time to sell to get the maximum $ back out of the car and to give the buyer some value before it nickels and dimes him to death.
