Question
I am studying for my Pre-Cal midterm and need help with this problem.
For problem B I have to: graph the function, find the domain and range, intervals i which its, increasing, decreasing, remaining constant, relative minimum and maximum and determine whether its even, odd, or neither.

B: G(X)= (X-2) (X≤0)
      (√X-5) (0<X≤2)
      (6) (X>2)

Here is how you do multipart functions:

1A. Draw  y = x - 2, in nice light pencil.

1B. Draw  y = √x - 2, in nice light pencil.

1C. Draw  y = 6, in nice light pencil. (yes, a horizontal line)

2A. For  x <= 0, negative values,  go over the graph of A, good and heavy.  Put a solid circle at the right end.

2B. For  values of x between 0 and 2,  go over the graph of B, good and heavy.  Put an open circle at the left, solid at the right.

2C. For  values of x to the right of 2,  go over the graph of C, good and heavy.  Put an open circle at the left (at x = 2)

Now you can answer the other questions.

If you still have trouble, let me know.

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
