answer: 15/31   << Well, if you know the answer, why do you need me?

Try  C(6,2)/(2^5 - 1)

six people are to be divided into 2 groups

>> there are 2^6 subsets, so 2^6/2 ways to divide (see last answer)
, each with atleast 1 person.

>> minus the empty set.

find the probability that,
there will be 2 in one group and 4 in the other.

>> That's C(6,2) or C(6,4), which, by now, you know are the same.

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
