Question
Determine whether this function has a maximum or minimum value. Then find the maximum or minimum value of the function: f(x)=x(x)-2x+2

Answer
Hi Kristie,
Basically, a function has a local minimum or maximum when the second derivative is positive or negative respectively.
f(x) = x² - 2x + 2
f'(x) = 2x - 2
f''(x) = 2
The second derivative is positive and so the function has a minimum.
