Question
A real life example of a polynomial function

Answer
dianalaura~

A cost, revenue, and profit function would amply satisfy this question. Let P(x) be the profit function and R(x) the revenue function and C(x) the cost function. There is a relationship between all of these and that is P(x) = R(x) - C(x) and hopefully this a positive number.

Suppose C(x) = 5 + 2x and R(x) = 8x then P(x) = 8x - (5 + 2x) = 6x - 5 which is positive as long as 6x - 5 >= 0, i.e., 6x >= 5 -> x >= 5/6.
