Question: The area of a rectangular athletic field is represented by the expression 14z^4-42z^3-+63z square meters. Write an algebraic expression to represent one possible set of dimensions (in the sense “length times width”) of the athletic field. Include correct units.

14z^4 - 42z^3 -+  63z  =

z(14z^3 - 42z^2 -+ 63)

so you can use  z  as one of them, and  14z^3 - 42z^2 + 63  as the other (meters, of course)

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
