Speed of bullet- 2500 feet per second.

Speed of sound- 1100 fps.

Calculate distance to target.

d feet second/2500 feet = d/2500 seconds
The bullet hits the target in d/2500 seconds.

d feet second/1100 feet = d/1100 seconds
The sound is heard d/1100 seconds after the bullet strikes the target.

d/2500 + d/1100 = 2
d/25 + d/11 = 200
11d/(2511) + 25d/(2511) = 200
36d = 2002511
d = 2002511/36 ≅ 1528 feet
