Question
Jami has two types of apples to sell today at the family's road side stand. Her mother told her to sell the McIntosh apples at 3 for 40 cent and the Delicious apples at 2 for 40 cent. There are 60 of each kind,  but Jami can't tell them apart. She decides that she will mix the apples together and sell them all for the same price. What price should Jami charge so that she will make the same amount of money are selling all the apples?

Answer
x = .4 * (3/20) = .4 * (1/20) = $8
y = .4 * (60/2) = .4 * 30 = $12

8 + 12 = 20

20/120 = 2/12 = 1/6

so to still be able to make the same amount of money if she had sold them like her mother told her, if she were to mix them she would have to sell each apple at about

ANS : about .17 an apple or another way to say this is 3 apples for 50 cents
