Compare the quantities in Column A with the quantity in Column
B. Given the information a+bi=(3+i)(4-2i), c+di=(-2-3i)(3+5i)
Column A                  Column B

Answer
a + bi = (3 + i)(4 - 2i)
c + di = (-2 - 3i)(3 + 5i)

a + bi = (3 + i)(4 - 2i) =
12 - 6i + 4i - 2i^2 =
12 - 2i - 2(-1) =
12 - 2i - 2 =
10 - 2i

a = 10
b = -2

c + di = (-2 - 3i)(3 + 5i)
-6 - 10i - 9i - 15i^2
-6 - 19i - 15(-1)
-6 - 19i + 15
9 - 19i

c = 9
d = -19

so

the difference between "b" and "d" is -17
