Question
Hiya can you solve this..i wanted to check and correct if i made any mistake...or approached it wrongly.

Determine the gradient and y-intercept of the lines

(i) 4x-3y=12

(ii) 5x+2y=20

sketch a graph of each of the lines.

please advice.

regards

Answer
To find the y-intercepts just set x=0 and solve for y. Thus the y-intercepts are:

(0,-4)

and

(0,10)

The gradients of the two lines are 4/3 and -5/2 respectively. If your answers don't check let me know and I can give some more help. Obviously I can't help you graph them. The easiest thing to do is to find two points, usually the x and y intercepts, and then connect them with a straight line.
