Question
Expand and evaluate logarithmic expressions where possible:

log8  3squart root x^5/ 64y^2

Thanks!!!

Answer
by this do you mean

log(8)((3sqrt(x^5))/(64y^2))
log(8)(3sqrt(x^5)) - log(8)(64y^2)
log(8)(sqrt(9x^5)) - log(8)(64) + log(8)(y^2)
log(8)((9x^5)^(1/2)) - 2 + log(8)(y^2)
(1/2)log(8)(9x^5) + log(8)(y^2) - 2
(1/2)log(8)(9x^5) + 2log(8) - 2

I'm not 100% on my solution

or by this you mean

log(8)(3sqrt((x^5)/(64y^2)))
or did you mean to say
log(8)(cbrt((x^5)/(64y^2)))

in otherwords, is that cbrt, or does the sqrt go to x^5 and 64y^2 or just the x^5

And you wondered why i use parenthesis.

For better help, i recommend going to answers.yahoo.com. You will get even a quicker response. But i recommend typing your problem so that they understand it.
