Question
Hi,

I get paid $0.48 for every mile I drive.  Gas this morning was at $3.55/gal.  My vehicle gets roughly 20MPG.  Without factoring in oil changes, am I getting paid enough?

If my oil changes are $25 per 3,000 miles and tires are $500 every 10,000 miles; now am I getting paid enough?

This is so cool!  Thanks!

Answer
3.55/20 = $.01775 per mile

.48 - .01775 = $.3025 profit for each mile. Thats not including the factors.

25/3000 = $(1/120) per mile
500/10000 = $(1/20) per mile

now if you include gas, oil, and tires

(1/120) + (1/20) + (71/400)
(1/4)((1/30) + (1/5) + (71/100))
Multiply everything inside the () by 300
(1/4)((10 + 60 + 213)/300)
(1/1200)(10 + 60 + 213)
(283/1200)
about $0.24

.48 - .24 = .24 Per mile

So in the first one, not including the factors you are making a profit of about $0.30 per mile

In the second one including all the factors, you are making a profit of about $0.24 per mile

so basically the oil, tires, and gas are being paid for, and you get $0.24 per mile.

So if you are asking if you are getting paid enough to cover everything with a little left over, then the answer is yes you are getting paid enough. Now depending on how much you spend on eating a drinking will depend on rather or not you have enough to do that. As far as your car coverage goes, you have enough. This doesn't cover car repair expenses, lol.
