Question
If X=2 is a root of 2X^3+5X^2-23X+10=0, find the remaining roots.  How to I do this

Answer
(x - 2)(x + 5)(2x - 1)

Using synthetic division

2'|'2'5'-23'|''10
''|'''4''18'|'-10
-------------------
''''2'9''-5'|'''0

Written out, you get

2x^2 + 9x - 5

this factors to (x + 5)(2x - 1)

The easiest way to find out if what you did is correct rather it is in the book or not
