Question
Hi,

Can you please help me withe following:
Is it True or False and prove it:

1)A+BC=(A+B)(A+C)

i think it's false because
R..H.S (A+B)(A+C)
=AA+AC+AB+BA
=A(C)+B(A)
=A(B+C)

(2)(A+B)' =A'B'
I couldn't do this one

Answer
Hi Maya,

You are right, #1 is false, because:

(a + b)(a + c) = a^2 + ac + ab + bc and there is no way that is = a + bc.

I'm not sure what you're asking about on #2.  Is this supposed to be taking derivatives??  I don't know if this is a calculus problem or what.  Let me know if the ' means something other than derivative, as in f' ("f prime").
If its derivatives, this is not true, because

(a + b)' = a' + b'   not a'b'.
