Question
The original question posed is correct;  the function is indeed x=(y^2)-4.  However, the error lies in this part of your solution the problem:

x = (y^2) - 4, (0,p)
0 = p^2 - 4 <-- Correct, since you replaced x with 0.
p^2 = 4
p = ±2

x = (y^2) - 4, (5,t)
t = (5^2) - 4 <-- Incorrect, since you replaced y with 5.
t = 25 - 4
t = 21

Note how you inputted the 5 into the y position where you had previously correctly left alone.  Please amend your previous answer!  Also, to prove this viewpoint, please visit: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=89504

In the aforementioned website, the problem was solved by another student and both said the answer was 1 as well.

Thanks for your time,

I only answer them, i don't post them.

Most people don't even both to answer them and some make mistakes. Thats life.
