Question
I just ask a question on an right isosceles triangle and i mistaken the right side it should be a r - not s
sorry

Answer
Hi, Sue,

I didn' see that (isosceles) before. Now it's easy. (But PLEASE learn how to use the vocabulary.  All you had to do is to say:

RST is a right isosceles triangle with <T=90, ST = 7.
Find r and <R.

(Yes, that's the whole thing.)

Now you say:
1. If it's isosceles, then <R = <S and since <R + <S = 90, <R = 45 degrees.
2.If it's isosceles, then s = r and

s^2 + s^2 = 7^2
2s^2  = 7^2

s^2 = 7^2/2, s = 7/sqrt(2)

Expertise

I can answer questions in basic to advanced algebra (theory of equations, complex numbers), precalculus (functions, graphs, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and identities), basic probability, and finite mathematics, including mathematical induction. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Abstract Algebra -- groups, rings, etc. and Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity. I won't understand specialized engineering or business jargon.

Experience

I taught at a two-year college for 25 years, including all subjects from algebra to third-semester calculus.
