juan rivera drove 80 miles into the country at an average rate of 55 mi/h. He then drove back on the same highway at an average rate of 45 mi/h. What was his average rate of speed for the entire round trip?
S = D/T
55 = 80/T
T = 80/55
T = 16/11 hours
45 = 80/T
T = 80/45
T = 16/9
S = (80 + 80)/((16/11) + (16/9))
S = 160/((144/99) + (176/99))
S = 160/((144 + 176)/99)
S = 160/(320/99)
S = 49.5 mph
