Question
Hi,

i)Given say y=(a/x^2)+(b/x)
ii)also 1>b>3

how do I deal with part(ii) when sketching the curve?

Thank U.

Answer
y = (a/(x^2)) + (b/x)
y = (a + bx)/(x^2)
y = (bx + a)/(x^2) or (1/(x^2))(bx + a)

here is what you do

plug in 1 for b, then plug in 3 for b, and shade in between those values.

y = (x + a)/(x^2)
y = (3x + a)/(x^2)

now it all depends on the value of "a"

this is basically a linear equation over a parabola.
