Question
how do you write a function rule for  which f(-5)=2 ?

Answer
Hi Alyssa,

Well, I think that you could come up with MANY functions so that f(-5) = 2. (I'm hoping that is what you are looking for!)

To go with an easy one, how about f(x) = x + 7 ?

You can get as fancy as you want, even with linear functions, because for example, f(x) = 3x + 17 will also work.

Even a second degree function can be shown to give the result you want:

               f(x) = x^2 - 23.

So, these are 3 examples.  I hope this helps.
