O is for the orthogonal groups. U is for the unitary groups. These are matrix groups of group theory.

Hi,
I wonder whether you can express, SU(n), U(n), and SO(n) with some O(n). That is for each SU(n), U(n), and SO(n), is there an O(n) that is isomorphic to those groups.
Group theory and matrix thoery and linear algebra this is.

I am afraid that your notation:

SU(n), U(n), SO(n), O(n)

is unfamiliar to me.  Please send along definitions of these terms and I'll see if I can help.

OK, that's a start.  Next step:
1. Send along precise definitions of 'orthogonal group' and 'unitary group'.
2. Send along definitions of your SU and your SO.

We'll get there.  (Of course, I might still not know how to do this, but we'll see.)
