Question
I have an oil tank with 288.0 gallons of oil.  One gallon is 231 inches cubed. What is the volume of the tank in cubic feet and cubic meters and how do I get this answer?

Answer
288 gallons
1 gallon = 231 in^3

231/(12^3) = 231/1728
288 * (231/1728) = 66528/1728

ANS : about 38.5 ft^3

------------------

231/(39^3) = 231/59319
288(231/59319) = 66528/59319

ANS : about 1.1215 m^3

I went to www.convert-me.com

The m^3 might be off, because i use 39 inches in a meter instead of what they use.
