What is empty set? I have looked up resources for definition but could not quite coprehend their intricate explanations. Thank you for your time.

On the site, gray means not taken, blue means taken.

Lets say you have 3 subjects (Math, English, Science), of which boys and/or girls take.

1.) 20 boys take Math, but not English
2.) 10 girls take Science but not Math
3.) 5 boys and 25 girls take both English and Science
4.) 6 boys and 2 girls take neither

1.) Would be an Union
2.) Would be an Union
3.) Would be an Intersection
4.) Would be the Empty Set

Union = one object is accepted not the other
Intersect = 2 or more objects are accepted by both
Empty Set = Nothing is acceptable.

That is just an example.
