Question
what is the correct procedure of finding what percent one number is of another number?

Answer
n(p/100) = V

n = number
p = percent's value, as in 25% is 25
V = Value

so if 45 is what percent of 50, then

45 = 50(p/100)
divide both sides by 50
(p/100) = .9
multiply both sides by 100
p = 90%

in the statement 45 is what percent of 50
45 = V
is = equal
what percent = p% or (p/100)
of = to multiply
50 = n
